IT Web Developer Summer Intern

VanEck’s Summer Intern Program includes exposure across the firm through educational, mentorship, and networking events. As an Intern, you will also be exposed to the firm’s senior management, gain an understanding of the financial services industry and learn critical business skills. The individual for this position should have a passion for analysis, design, implementation, and testing of operations based work. A web developer Intern should have or be in the process of gaining knowledge of a content management systems, templates, applications, file and back end systems. Troubleshooting is a valuable skill set. A web developer intern should be capable of working as an individual contributor on a team and open to learning new technologies. Critical thinking, documentation, communication, project leadership, and pride in work are all skills critical to success in this role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities included but not limited to the following:
• Develop, create, and modify general computer application software or specialized programs
• Analyze user needs and develop software solutions
• Design or customize software for client use to optimize operational efficiency
• Improve existing systems by analyzing areas of modification
• Maintain systems by monitoring, identifying, and correcting software defects
• Create technical specifications and test plans
• Update knowledge and skills regularly through in-house and external courses, manuals, and new applications
This Intern position entails:
• 60% coding and content maintenance
• 40% requirements gathering and documentation
Qualifications:
• Actively working on a B.S. in any of the following: Computer Science (CS), Information Technology (IT), Information Systems (IS), Electrical Engineering (EE), Computer Engineering (CE), Software Engineering (SE), or related fields.
• Cumulative or major GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Knowledge of basic computer science concepts, programming, and Information Systems
• Experience with or basic knowledge of front end languages (CSS, HTML, JavaScript)
• Experience with or basic knowledge of back end languages (C#, VB.NET, SQL Server)
• Strong understanding of ASP.NET
• Basic knowledge of the MVC paradigm
• Outstanding attention to detail and capacity to demonstrate continual learning
• Exceptional analytical and problem solving capabilities
• Excellent deductive and inductive reasoning skills
• Strong interpersonal verbal and written skills
• Ability to work both individually and with teams
• Ability to be highly flexible to quickly changing business needs.
• Strong skills in object oriented development
• Skilled in the Visual Studio environment
• Ability to analyze information with an attention to detail
• Ability to relay technical and procedural information effectively through both oral and written communication
• Ability to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data delivered to clients

• Ability to work consistently and directly with clients while maintaining good rapport
• Familiarity with version control
Education and/or Experience:
• Current junior or senior student majoring in Computer Science or Information Systems
